Important Russian egg in carved coconut shell, circa 1820, mounted in silver and carved vermeil. The shell is adorned with three medallions with a laurel leaf frame in vermeil with profiles carved on the nut of Marshal Kutousov, Bagration and ataman Platov. An imperial silver eagle, bearing the laurels of victory and the inscription "1812", surmounts the coin. The border is silver with a motif of acanthus leaves and the inside is silver-gilt. The work is carried by a finely carved silver Hercules resting on a quadripartite base of lion's denim. Beautiful coin commemorating the victory of the Russian army over Napoleon in 1812. Title stamp: 84, St. Petersburg, 1818-1864. Goldsmith: unknown Control mark e.g. Alexander Ilyich Yashkinov, 1795-1826 Goldsmith illegible. Height: 30 cm. Gross weight: 1047,42 gr.
