JAPON - Yokoyama Taikan (1868-1958)
Ink and colours on paper, dandelions, their egrets flying away. (Moisture stains). Signed Taikan and two artist's stamps. Dim. 43.5 x 53 cm. After his studies, Yokoyama Taikan participates in the foundation of the Academy of Fine Arts with Okakura Kakuzo, before founding a new association, Nihon Bijustu-in. He participates in the revival of Nihonga painting, taking inspiration from Western techniques and eliminating line drawing. He had a long career, received the Medal of Culture and was promoted to member of the Academy of Arts of the Imperial Household.
