JACQUES-EMILE RUHLMANN (1879-1933)
Pair of bronze sconces with an antique green and gilded patina with a light arm in the shape of a horn of plenty topped by a large hemispherical reflector circa 1934. H: 71 cm W: 40 cm D: 45 cm The model of wall lights we present you comes from the banqueting room of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris, former Hotel of the Potocki family. On the occasion of the extension of the Potocki Hotel, the architect, decorator and Art Deco genius Jacques-Emile Ruhlmann was chosen to design the lounge levels. At the end of 1933, after the death of Jacques Emile Ruhlmann, the final project was presented by Paul Viard and Marcel Dastugue, in charge of the buildings of the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Some of the interior decorations are now classified as historical monuments. Bibliography: Florence Camard, "Ruhlmann", éditions Monelle Hayot, Paris, 2009, for the view of the interior of the banqueting hall reproduced on page 259.
