"Saucer on foot" in soft porcelain from the Louis XV service with attributes and gooseberries, with polychrome decoration in the centre of a garland of flowers and foliage forming a medallion, the rim decorated with three trophies interspersed with three branches of gooseberry in relief raised in gold, the border underlined with crossed palms in blue in slight relief and gold serrated net. Mark: LL interlaced, letter - date P for 1768, painter's mark partially effaced 18th century D. 22.6 cm Wear of the gold on the border Provenance: B. Dragesco - D. Cramoisan As regards the painter's mark, Mr Bernard Dragesco confirms that it is that of Charles Buteux, traces of a marine anchor. This "walking saucer" belongs to the service bought by Louis XV for Versailles from December 1763. The service is completed in 1769, 1771, 1772, 1773, 1774, 1785 and 1790, it is mentioned in an inventory carried out in Versailles in January 1782. Different pieces of this service are preserved in the French public collections: - At the Palace of Versailles and Trianon: a lizon bowl, four ice-cream cups, a compotier-coquille, two foot saucers and six plates. - In the Louvre museum there is an undated plate in the Thiers collection, in the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris a round compotier and in the Musée de S?vres six plates, one dated 1763 and one dated 1771. - At the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is kept a covered chestnut and its display (inv. 1981-740) - At the Hermitage Museum St Petersburg, a plate - At the Victoria & Albert Museum, a saucer on foot.
