A chalcedony ring engraved with gadroons and decorated with a swirl, the center adorned with a cultured pearl. Diameter of the pearl: 6.50/7.00 mm. Finger size: 53. Gross weight: 8,7 g. Accompanied by a certificate of origin from Olivier BAROIN, dated 30/09/2019, specifying: - the ring was made by Adrien Louart around 1937, for Suzanne BELPERRON - until today, this ring has remained in the family box of its owner. Suzanne BELPERRON (1900-1983) "My style is my signature": this is how Suzanne Belperron expresses herself on her creations that she will never sign! Suzanne Belperron was born in 1900 in the Jura region near one of the most important diamond-cutting centres which, at a very young age, gave her a taste for jewellery. As she had a real gift for drawing, her mother enrolled her at the Beaux-Arts in Besançon where she won first prize in the 1917-1918 Decorative Arts competition. Because of her talent Suzanne Belperron landed in Paris at the age of 19 and began her career as a model-drawer alongside Jeanne Boivin, who considered her her daughter. She is full of creativity and imagination, her jewellery very quickly became a huge success, which earned her a position as co-director of the René Boivin fashion house at the age of 23. Frustrated after thirteen years not to be recognized as "Suzanne Belperron" but as "Maison Boivin", she left the house in 1932, solicited by the merchant Herz who offered her a position as exclusive artistic and technical director and gave her the total freedom so much sought after by Suzanne.
