In-8, brown morocco, spine with decorated ribs, full figure, red morocco title piece, gilt filets framing the covers, speckled edges (contemporary binding). Original edition of the French translation, illustrated with an engraved frontispiece depicting the death of Captain Cook and an engraved folding map. Rare copy bound in contemporary morocco. In the figure of Louis-Marie-Augustin, Duke of Aumont. He formed a magnificent collection of art objects and books, and most of the bindings, made of morocco or marbled calf, came out of Padeloup's hands according to Olivier. Tiny freckles, uniformly faded spine, modern morocco label stuck on the first cover.
