The American pilot, containing a description of the eastern coasts of North America from the St. Lawrence River to the Mississippi; followed by a notice on the gulf-stream. Paris, Imprimerie Royale, 1826. In-8, chocolate paper bradel cardboard, uncut and uncut black morocco title piece (Devillers period binding, with label at end of volume). Original French edition, made by order of the Minister of the Navy and Colonies, by Placide Magré. This work by hydrographer Edmund Blunt gives the most extensive and authentic information for the time, on the navigation of the eastern coasts of North America. Beautiful copy with prestigious provenances. Autograph signed by the translator and sent to the Knight of Rossel, Rear Admiral and Deputy Director of the Navy Maps and Plans Depot. He became director in 1827 until his death in 1829. Ex-libris of Jean-André Dezauche, son of Jean-Claude Dezauche, both engravers, cartographers and holders of the monopoly on the sale of maps of the Dépôt de la Marine.
