Of Chilean origin, Marie-Thérèse Pinto was initiated into sculpture in Paris under the direction of Brancusi, then Laurens. She spent the war years in Mexico where she studied pre-Columbian arts. Upon his return to Paris in 1950, the artist regularly participated in the Salon de la Jeune Sculpture and the Salon de Mai and received various commissions from the State.
