Danièle Perré (1924-2009)
"La souche couleur de Miel" 1963 Oil on canvas Signed and dated 63 bottom left 60.5 x 92 cm Daniele Perré is inspired by wrecks washed up by the sea, the keel of a boat driven into the sand by the whim of the waves, tree roots torn out by the currents from some distant continent and come to be stranded on our shores. The strange shapes of these gnarled, barked, naked stumps of obscene nudity, the inert, putrid, monstrous mass of these boat debris, offer Daniele Perré creative stimuli, the pleasure and the torment of inventing from reality these fantastic objects, these powerful sets of lines and colours that she exhibits today, after years of silence, hard work and ungrateful patience. Frank ELGAR, 1975, exhibition of Danièle Perré at the Galerie Soleil, Paris.
