The painting of the rich inventions covered with the veil of feigned love that are depicted in Poliphile's Dream. Paris, Mathieu Guillemot, 1600. In-4, brown calf, modern ribbed spine, blue title coin. Adaptation of the Hypnerotomachia Poliphili by Béroalde de Verville, from the first French translation of the "Knight of Malta", revised by Jean Martin and published in 1546 by Jacques Kerver. It is illustrated with the same woodcuts as the 1546 edition. Copy including (5) ff.n.ch. [on 19 and 1 bl.], 154 pp., (6) ff. n.ch. Title cut out, reassembled. Uniformly scorched, spots, small angular lacks, some traces of old Guardsman writing renewed. Old engravings glued then scratched on ff. 153, 154 and on the last table ff. Sold as is
