In the 1920s, Jouve built a house in Le Tholonet, facing the Saint Victoire mountain, where he stayed regularly. In 1952 he had to reluctantly part with this house. He painted this last portrait full of sweetness of his cat suckling her babies.
Offered a few months later, this autographed work which accompanies it evokes these last happy days spent in Tholonet
