Description of the new and little known plants cultivated in the garden of J. M. Cels. In half long-grain morocco, old red with corners, smooth spine decorated with gilt borders, gold lettering, some traces of rubbing on the boards and hinges Paris, from the printing house of Crapelet, 1800 First edition on vellum paper, reprinted in full size (510x330 mm, ordinary copies are 330x240 mm and on the title page the date is announced under the republican calendar, "year VIII", [Brunet]) Complete with 100 numbered plates. The plates were drawn by the brothers Redouté (Pierre-Joseph: 81; 8 by Henri-Joseph), Cloquet (2), Laneau (1), Maréchal (6) and Sauvage (2), and engraved by Sellier père et fils, Goulet, Guyard and Plée. A few traces of moisture and foxing in the margins, tear without missing and not affecting the text on ff. 41, interior very fresh overall. Armorial bookplate of Gerbé de Thoré pasted on First of a series of three publications that made the reputation of Etienne Pierre Ventenat, one of the greatest botanists of the time.
