Tanzaku carrying a tanka (short poem), composed and calligraphed by the hand of the prince-abbot of the great Daikaku-ji monastery in Kyoto. Dim. 36 x 5,5 cm. The prince-abbot of the great monastery Daikaku-ji of Kyoto, 性法親王 (Kûshô hôshinnô; 1573-1650), also known as the Imperial Prince of Daikaku-ji (大覚寺法親王) was rightly acclaimed as the great tanka poet of his time.
