BELLONTE Maurice
Manuscrit autographe. [3 septembre 1930]; 3 pages in-4°. Recopie de la main de M. Bellonte du discours de bienvenue de Jimmy Walker à leur arrivée à New York. «The roar of enthousiastic greeting which reached you as you come to this historic City Hall, and which still must be ringing in your ears, is but part of the expression of our people's gladness that ended a great adventure. It is an adventure which adds lustre to the glory of France, and which stands as a high exemple among the glorious feats of aviation. Many fliers of many nations have striven with fearless courage to be the first to make a non-stop flight [...] air machine from Europe to our shores, stimulated undowlatedly by the splendid achievment of our own Lindbeargh, in his non-stop flight across the Ocean form west to east. [...] It is our hope that this shall stand to your as an earnest of the open hospitality which New York so gladly tenders to you, it stands as a permanent record of the enthousiasm of all our people for your great deed, it is given to you so that you and your contry: Our sister Republic: may have honour in our land; and it carries with it our sincere admiration for a brave deed bravely accomplished, which shall stand as a record for all times.»
